1998 Chevy Blazer Air conditioning vents.

When I put the AC on, small foam pieces are blown out of the vents. Any idea what is causing this?

The only thing I can think of is the manufacturer places foam between the vent tubes and where they meet the dash. Chances are it has dried out and is coming apart.
