1994 Chevy Blazer Whine and thump

After we use 4 hi in our 94 Blazer, for several weeks at speeds above 45 mph, it will intermittenly make a very loud whine that sounds like it is coming from the front center or front right. If you slow down to less than 10 mph, it will make a loud thump in the front and the whine will stop. We have had to replace the transmission and transfer case, and hoped that it would fix this problem as well, but it is still making the whine and thump noises.

That whine and thump that you are hearing is the 4 wheel getting stuck. When mine did that the shop unhooked the 4wheel and It quit making that noise. We then took it back in for them to fix the 4 wheel and tried it out and it had gotten stuck in 4 wheel. After trying and trying to get it out it eventually came out of 4wheel. But I haven't used it since. But Yeah ours made that same exact whine and thump. It was really scary the first time I thought my car was going to blow. Lol.
