I have 1957 Chevy 210, 2 door sedan. I have a rear-end noise coming from the rear end. Noise sounds like a metal against metal noise. When I open the door while driving noise is very prominent from drivers side. I have checked the grease in the rear-end and the transmission and they are full. No slop in u-joint. Noise is intermittent at low speed 15-25mph and is not constant.

this won't sound right, but drive in a circle on a right hand turn. If you hear the grinding noise then it's probably your left wheel bearing. Then drive in a lh circle if it quits or reduces then that will confirm yur diagnosis. that is the way to test if a wheel bearing is bad or not. If you still hear the noise it may be your rear end bearings going bad.
