I'm thinking about changing my rod bearings because of low oil pressure when hot. Motor is quiet didn't tick, tap or rap. Idles at 0 pressure.. Goes to 20 at 3000 rpm's or higher. Can I change them in the truck? Should I get standard bearings? Is there anything I should know before changing them?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

If you replace them, you really need to mic the crank to determine if there is excessive wear. If the crank is worn, new bearings really won't help. Here are the specs for the crankshaft. If you need help, let me know.

By checking the crankshaft, you will be able to determine if standard bearing will work or not.
