Is the type of fluid and procedure the same as a 2013 Explorer? Will atf+4 work on these? As I have about a dozen bottles.

Hello,

This Acadia uses Dexron VI automatic transmission fluid.
So, the ATF+4 will not work.

Typical drain and fill. It uses about 6 quarts of fluid.

I have attached the fluid change procedure as well as the capacity below.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.

The fluid is dark so I will change it for sure. I also noticed some fluid around the front differential as this is a AWD. If the differential is low on fluid, will it cause shudder around low speeds? From tour experience is it usually the transfer case or the transmission causing that? How do I check the fluid level in the transfer case?

Also, the tires are new. I know sometimes tires can cause that.

If the tires are cupped or have uneven wear it can cause vibration. However, if they are new, it should not do that.

If the fluid is low, it can create grinding noise.
To check the fluid level on the transfer case you will have to remove the fill plug on the side of the case. The transfer case is considered full when the fluid level is right at the level of the fill plug opening.

This vehicle uses 75W-90 gear oil for the transferase.

See diagrams below.
