Transmission not shifting

Hi,

When in drive, can you shift manually from first to second (low 1 and low 2)? Does it shift at all when in drive or does it just stay in first gear?

Also, if you haven't already, check to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes stored. This has an OBD 1 system, so you don't need a scanner. All that is needed is a short jumper wire or even a paper clip. Here is a link that explains how it's done:

Hi,

When you replaced the filter, did you remove the grommet that the filter is pressed into? Was the old one removed?

Let me know if this just happened all at once, the engine size so I can look through info on the correct transmission, if you scanned for codes, and anything you can think of that could help me try to diagnose the problem.

Also, it's messy, but if you disconnect one of the cooler lines, does it shoot pressurized fluid out? Is there flow through the cooler?
