Car makes a rapid ticking sound when on, it has been in a flood, so the engine is damaged. What could be the cause of the problem and is it an easy fix?

Hello,

Depending on how much water got in the engine and how long it ran with water inside, it will determine the extent of the damage.
First of all, have you checked the oil to see if there is water?
If so, has the oil been changed?

Sometimes changing out the oil and flushing the engine will make all the difference. But if it has been running for an extended period of time you would have severe internal damage to the engine and that could mean the engine need rebuilding.

Let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
