06 fusion made a sudden jerk and my daughter pulled off the road and the car cut off. We towed the car home and the car started up again with no problem. The other day my dad drove it to see what it was doing and it cut off on him and he had to push it home. The check charging system light came on again. We are confused and afraid to drive because it seems like once the car heats up and gets going it cuts off. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much

I suspect the charging system light is not a valid clue and that system doesn't have a problem. The light will turn on when the charging system stops working, and it will stop working when the engine stalls. It's the stalling we need to diagnose. The first step is to see if any diagnostic fault codes are set. Many auto parts stores will read the codes for you for free. If there are no codes, you'll need a scanner to view and record live data during a test drive. That will allow you to see what is happening when the stalling occurs.
