How long since it has had a tune-up? There's way too many possibilities to guess at. Bad gas, failing fuel pump, fouled spark plugs, failing sensor, broken timing chain guide and jumped chain. Those are just a few of the things I can think of in a hurry.
The place to start is by having the diagnostic fault codes read and recorded. Most auto parts stores will do that for free. Those will indicate the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis or the unacceptable operating condition.
