As I start my car it starts to shake a lot! I put it from reverse to drive and you can hear some type of noise coming from inside the hood. It is very hard to accelerate on the gas and pick up speed. I have heard it could be my motor mounts but I am not sure of that and how many mounts come in my car?

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros. Com.

On the motor, you have a front mount and a torque strut mount. I have attached a picture of both. The other end of the engine is mounted via the transmission and transmission mounts. Do this. Open the hood and have a helper start the engine. Place the parking brake on and have the helper keep his foot firmly on the brakes. Place the engine in drive. Press slightly on the gas. When this is being done, observe the engine. Does it move excessively when a load is placed on it? Do the same in reverse and the engine should move the opposite way.

If the engine has excessive movement back and forth, the torque strut mount is bad. Also, pay attention to the front mount for excessive movement. If you find the rubber portion of either mount is cracked or missing, replace that mount.

Try this and let me know what you find.

Take care,
Joe
