Engine overheats at idle

My vehicle blows lukewarm air at idle but heats up nicely when revved or driving. Then I noticed the temperature gauge heats up to the red area after idling and drops down when I give it gas. The fans are working fine, and I flushed the heater core with no change. Fine while revving/driving. No cabin heat at idle.

Hello,

This sounds like you have a coolant pump impeller that has fallen apart not circulating engine coolant like it should. Here is a guide to help you see what you are in for when changing the pump out:
