Car has problems starting, like it loses power after each attempt

When I try to start the car, I hear the "regular" car start up sounds, but it won't start. Each subsequent time I try to start it, the "regular" car start up sounds get weaker and weaker, as if the battery is dying.

I've replaced the battery, and have bought a battery maintainer to keep it in good shape, since I can't use the car as my daily driver under this circumstance.

The car has a carburetor, and I haven't really done much to it besides replace the points with a Pertronix electronic ignition.

Any help is appreciated.

Okay, It sounds like you have a problem with the starter motor itself. Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can see what's going on? that would be great. You can upload it here with your response.

Thanks for the video. The engine sounds hurt to me or a weak battery/starter. can you confirm the battery, cables and starter are good? Also, check the ground from the engine to the frame, if all good please do a compression test. here is a guide:

I am pretty certain that there is nothing wrong with the battery nor the cables. I had the battery on a slow charger, and the cables were replaced recently.

I'll check the ground, but I think I saw it connected well, since I had already examined the newer cables.

I will look up a video on how to check to see if the starter is good.

If it's good, I'll then try to run the compression test. I'm sure AutoZone can lend me the kit.

I'm not much of a home mechanic, but luckily everything is super accessible since it's an I6 engine.
