Ok I read another person has the same problem I do. He was advised to check plugs, wires, terminals. Etc. Now I changed all that stuff out, E3 plugs, High dollar 8mm wires. No lights on in side the dash cause I just changed out the starter, . Once the motor starts if I don't keep my foot on the gas and ease out on the clutch it DIES, then I have to go full throttle and finale it starts, so when I go to take off, {forward or reverse} I have to give it a lot of throttle and some times I have to pump it, please help I love my little car.

Clean throttle body and idle air control valve port (valve may need replacing). Check fuel pressure with a gauge.

Great! I was actually going to suggest that after you did those steps I provided were ok. I have done a few of those in my time lol. It's one of the main issues with these cars.

Also just to add to this one also check the inside of the coolant temp sensor connector if the terminals are blue or green instead of silver I would change the connector also. The sensors crack and leak coolant into the connectors corroding the terminals. Also I recommend only using stock copper plugs in those engines they run best for the longest time. Platinum etc I have seen have issues with carbon fouling. Those engines tend to burn oil I would use ngk ac delco or some bosch supers.
