The only way that we can do this is to hard wire the switch so that it doesn't respond to opening and closing and thinks that the door is always closed.
Clearly this is without repairing the door so that the latch operates properly. Also, this is assuming that you are correct that this is caused by the latch itself. I agree that this is the likely cause but if this doesn't work then we have another issue.
I am attaching the info below on how this works and the connector view to show you which wires we need to jump.
What I would do is access the latch and unplug the connector and the light should turn on.

Then use a jumper wire and jump B and D and the light should turn off. If it does, then use electrical tape and secure this jumper so that the BCM thinks the door is always closed.
