steering wheel shakes and knocking noise in front passenger side wheel

My steering wheel shakes when I am driving, and now there is a knocking noise in the front passenger side wheel when I am driving a slightly turn the wheel. I am not sure if my tires are unbalanced or it is something worse.

It is highly likely that the tires are out of balance and I would bet that driving it that way for a long period has led to worn out tie rod ends which would be the knocking noise.
