Cannot get new ignition cylinder to work?

I lost my only set of keys. As I do not have the money to pay a locksmith or the dealership to make me a new one, I went to my local pick and save and got another Ignition cylinder lock and the key that went with it off of the same model/make/year and installed it. It didn't work. I tried the re learning programming where you cut the car on, leave it for 10 minutes. Cut it off for 5 seconds. Cut it back on for 10 minutes off for 5 seconds back on for 10 minutes and then try to start it and it did not work, is there something that I'm missing or something else that I need to do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. And also, it has a pass key 3 system on it. Thanks in advance.

The old key had an RFI chip in it which communicates with the BCM and the security system. If the security light is flashing when you crank the engine over the security system is enabled. The key must be programmed into the system, or this will be the problem, you cannot make a different key work for the system unless it is programmed into the system. You can have a mobile locksmith come out to do the job/program the ignition key it should cost about $200.00, sorry.

I also got the passkey 3 module, the original key with the lock cylinder and the ecu out of the car and put them all in. I guess this wouldn't matter?

You would need the theft deterrent module, but once installed I believe it would need to be programmed anyway but you can give it a try. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Well, I went back to the junkyard and got the PASSKEY III module and the ECU from the same car that I got the Ignition cylinder and key from, and it worked! No programming required!
