Can a clutch go in five minutes with no warning

Okay, so our car broke down and we took it to the only place open on a Sunday. They told us it was our starter motor. Quoted a extortionate amount and we said we would have to go else where. Was quoted half the price, but whilst at the new garage they said it is not your starter motor it is fine.

Our problem now is the clutch is totally gone and so is the accelerator pedal. Both were fine prior to being at garage one. And it was towed from them to the next garage.

Is it possible it has been tampered with? Or can it go as they said all the driving that has been done was from their ramps to the car park. The clutch has been done up to this point.

Not good timing. So apologize if this seems rambled!

Thanks!

Hello,

Yes anything is possible when you do not have your eyes on your car. They could have done anything to it. That is why we do our own repairs and why this site was created.

Sorry to hear your troubles. Do you have any other questions or any other way we can help you?

Best, Ken

To echo Ken, it is possible they disconnected parts to get in to test the starter and just left them apart when you declined the repair. If so I would think the second shop would have noticed this and notified you.
