Camshaft position sensor

Car shudders and almost shut off out of nowhere. Giving more gas ensures it stalls. Battery light and check engine light. Researched and most common was crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. Bought both. Never took off harmonic balancer before. It was a pain and accidentally snapped off the cam sensor. Cannot see very well where it is at. Dug the broken piece out, felt in the hole and felt something there. Picked with screwdriver because I thought it was a broken piece of plastic. Nope it was the magnet with a now broken mount bracket. A YouTube video said same problem and JB welded back wait twenty four hours and install sensor and drive. Said he did it and two years later car is still running. So I did it and cleaned it very well first. Now car will not start. Other than bad wires what could it be? Does it matter whether polar North or South of the magnet faces the sensor?

The magnet should not matter as long as its there. Does the engine have spark? Can you hear the fuel pump running when turning the key on?
