Where is this located?

I've had it replaced at the dealer multiple times. Why does this keep failing?

Good morning,

I attached the location and procedure for you below.

Are there any codes stored? Can you post them if there are? It may not be the sensors. It could be wiring or an issue with the timing chains.

P0340 (for the camshaft sensor)
P0344 (for missed signals from sensor)

I'm thinking to remove sensors, clean contacts (can I use contact cleaner?), Inspect wires, etc. I'm also assuming its not possible to replace a wiring harness so there's only so much I can do.

This car gets driven about 3,000/year. Do you think this has anything to do with the frequent repeat failures (fails about 1/year)? Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Okay, the codes are similar in possibilities. This most likely not a sensor issue. It is most likely a wiring issue to the sensor and back to the ECM.

I attached the flowchart for you below for the testing that needs to be done to determine the failure.

Cleaning the sensor will not fix the issue at all.

I also attached the location of the affected sensor for you.
