service engine soon warning stays on even though car seems to run fine. It happened shortly after a new inspection sticker test was successfully completed.

Also stability control warning light is on

You would need to have it scanned for fault codes, that would narrow down the possibilities of what is causing the light. A code reader will give you Engine/Trans fault codes, the stability fault may require a scan tool that is capable of accessing the system.
