Well, I answered my own question. There is a hub assembly puller that I rented for free from the parts place where I bought the part.
Replacing the assembly is just one additional step beyond replacing a brake pad. I removed the three screws holding it to the knuckle and then, using the puller, removed the hub bearing assembly.
Installation was in reverse order. The hub bearing assembly goes back on easily while turning the nut with a torque wrench. I torqued it down to 185 lbs per the specs.
Someone said to use a pry bar and a heavy hammer to get it off. I don't recommend that shoemaker approach. The threaded shaft can be damaged if the assembly doesn't come straight off.
