Right side under the glove box and to the right. Here are the diagrams on what it looks like and the location under the dash on the right side. Check out the images (Below). Please let us know what happens.

V8 front wheel drive automatic.

I have heard it is behind the glove box, but I want to be sure. There were two modules I could see there but the part numbers corresponded to the airbag module and climate control module.

There were wires with warnings about not probing due to the airbag module being connected, so I did not want to look any further.

Is the PCM the other silver box up and behind the airbag module? If so, is it okay to disconnect those wire harnesses in the way? It will not engage the airbag.

Any tips on what size socket is needed and where all the bolts are keeping the PCM attached?

I need to remove the PCM to install a memory chip adapter so I can do some real-time tuning with a Moates emulator.

Thanks!

The PCM is behind the glove box, up in the corner. Three different size connectors, I think just a 10mm nut on a stud and bracket will allow it to be removed.

You have a 4.1 engine, not a 401.
It's located behind RH Side Of I/P, Near Shroud

I'd say you are probably wrong on both counts. I doubt the controller has anything to do with that symptom and it isn't really that hard to change. I'd take a close look at the ignition switch.
