I just bought a 2000 Cadillac Catera with 76,000 miles and is a V6. The problem I'm facing is that the "Check Engine", "TC", and "ABS" light is on. The Speedometer is working only intermittently, but most of the time the needle is dead and the steering wheel becomes very hard, as if the power steering is affected by these problems.

I've checked the internet for answers and many Catera owners report the same EXACT! Problem but there is no answer to resolve the problem. Please someone help me. Email embracelve@hotmail. Com.

Scan it for the codes first. Sounds like the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) might be going out. Get the codes and lets go from there

I believe I responded to this question once already, but it's not listed here so I'll re-respond. The problem IS the ETCBM. I guarantee it. I bought a 2000 Catera with the same problem, same codes, spend all day troubleshooting it, and it wasn't until I got home and did an internet search until I found my problem. I also did a search for part availability (which was like $700.00 approx) and stumbled across an eBay posting from the manufacture (Bosch), who rebuilds your ETCBM for 159.00 which includes shipping. Problem was removing it. It's not really that hard, but it is definitely challenging. I could do one fairly easily now (after having done one, but honestly, it sucked) It also took almost 14 days to get my car running again because like I said, it's a rebuild of your part. You have to send yours in, and wait for the return. But if you have the time, it's worth the pain. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Dean310@yahoo. Com

Sorry, its called the EBTCM (Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module) also known as the ABS Module. The Ebay repair user name is bba-remaninc ($60 now). Go to ebay and sign in, go to advanced search and click by seller, enter above user name. Good luck all.
