Found a wire as shown in the picture. It was melted and connected to the positive and negative. It was wrapped in the screws and wire was completely burnt. Does that wire belong there and why? The pictures are off a fuse box that connects to my battery. Thank you

Hi,

Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way that we would be able to tell you what that wire would go to because it looks out of place. However, it definitely does not look like it was there from when the vehicle was built. Are their any aftermarket parts like lights, radio, speakers, alarm system, back up camera? The reason is, this where they would splice into to get power and if they wire is burnt then they most likely did not secure it properly or they used an undersized wire. Basically, a burnt wire is caused by to much current running through the wire and it heats up and melts then burns.

The best way to determine what this is, is to trace it. That means you will need to follow the wire where it goes. If this is installed by someone after the vehicle was built then it will be pretty easy to follow because they will have just secured it in the most easily accessible places.

Let me know what you find and I can assist further if needed.

Here is a better picture of the wire in question. Found it converted to the two bolt. Those two run to my positive and negative wire to battery. Is this suppose to be there the wire is burnt. The wire in the picture is the wire that was connected to the bolts show.
