1996 Buick Skylark engine fan

My engine fan only comes on when my air conditioning is on. When I shut off the ac the engine fan shuts off also. The fan wont turn back on until I turn the ac back on. How do I get the engine fan to turn on when the car gets warm?

Go to your local Buick dealer and buy an updated ECT, this will calibrate the gauge, so overheat and hot gauge will start the cooling fan. Fan should start at 217-223 degrees measured at the sensor or thermostat housing.
