We recently purchased a new 2006 Buick Lucerne CX, 3.8 litre and just returned from vacation and got a good feel for the car. We noticed that when travelling at high speeds in excess of 70 mph on the freeways, the car steering would wander slightly at times. When driving at these speeds without moving the steering wheel, the car at times just shifts a bit on the road. It is not a drastic movement but noticeable enough that you have to correct it by turning the wheel slightly. The shift will occur in either direction and is not due to the curvature of the road. The car currently has 11,000 kms on it and we took it back to the dealer but they are unable to duplicate the problem by taking it out for a quick test drive. We are a little frustrated that they can not do more for us. I did a little research on this and found that these cars do have a new magnetic steering system?
Could you provide any advice or offer your opinion as to what the problem may be with the steering on this car and how to pursue this problem further.
Thank You,
Bob
