Interior problem 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 61000 miles

The power windows in my Buick will not work. When the problem first occurred the windows worked sporadically. Now they do not work at all. I have replaced the main switch on the drivers side and it has not helped. It makes a buzzing sort of noise when you press the drivers side window button but nothing happens. The windows will not work from any of the other door switches either.

Hello,

It sounds like the system has a bad ground. This can be caused by a broken wire in the drivers door between the jam and the door. Here is a wiring diagram so you can do some testing along with a guide.

and

Please run this test and get back to us we are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

Hello, I'd start by looking at the power window circuit breaker. Pull the circuit breaker, turn on the key, use a testlite see if there is voltage available at the breaker.

Electrical problem
2002 Buick Century 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I can not get the front passenger window to go up or down with both drivers and passenger side controls. It worked up until about a week ago just from the drivers side control only. The window lock switch was missing so I assumed that it was just stuck in the locked position because the back windows would not operate from their locations either, just the drivers location. I did fiddle around down inside the opening in the lock switch and did cause a spark when doing it while the key was on. I purchased a complete used window and mirror switch control for the driver’s door and now the back windows will now work from their locations but the front passenger window will not work from any location. Any suggestions on what may be the problem? Do the windows have separate fuses? Thanks, Paul White

Assuming the used switch is good...

and based on that the passenger side was working with the old switch, I would pull the panel of one of the front doors and see if the regulator and or motor are shot. Probably going to be the same on both sides.

The passenger window NEVER worked with the old switch from the passenger door control, only from the drivers control. Could the spark that I created in the old drivers side switch have shorted something out ONLY on the front passenger side window?

I just replaced the Master Window Repair Switch on a 1999 Buick Century. Power Windows still do not work! When I hit the button for the Drivers Window, the NEW switch makes a loud clicking noise!? Is the switch defective?

Was the master switch new? I'd remove the door panel to get at the window motor. If you have good voltage and ground at the wiring connector, I'd have to suspect the window motor.

Because it is a reversing motor, the wires in the diagram, switch between voltage and ground, depending on up or down.

All the other windows work using the main driver side control panel. I have replaced the regulator, switches and the motor. Still nothing. It can not be a fuse all the other windows are working fine. Note I replaced all three parts twice.

Do you have a multimeter to do some tseting?Sounds like you could have a broken wire in the door wire boot that runs from the body of the car to the drivers door.

I'm no car person, but I went to the auto repair shop with the same problem and he said it was the BCM. Body Control Module. It controls electronic components throughout the body of the car including power windows and mirrors. None of my motors or buttons are out; it's just the system itself. Estimated 600 dollars with labor and part. $100+ part.

What year is your car 2000? if so there is no BCM that controls the windows you can see from the posts above in the window wiring diagrams.
