My buick runs like a champ but, at random speeds on a random day it will start to get sluggish. It also jumps and jerks like a component is loose in the engine compartment. I have been inspecting the engine compartment for a good 2 weeks now trying to figure it out, and the only clue I have is that the belt tensioner is jumping way more than what it is suppose to. It only has 72,000 miles on it and when we got it it only had 70,000 miles on it. And the belt tensioner was not as bad off. I replaced the fuel filter thinking that the fuel lines may have been dirty.I checked the fuel injectors thinking that maybe the engine was misfiring. I did the first oil change the first time on it a while back and it was like those Castrol commercials with the guys sitting on the couch and it is sludge! All over them. Well the oil was that bad and the filter was so heavy that I dropped it and sludge dripped out all over the place. Any ways any help or tips you guys can give me would be really helpful. Me and my wife got the car in very good shape and I would like to keep it like that.
Thanks,
Josh

Your belt tensioner could cause this when you speed up or slow down as it has to keep a steady tension on the belt. But have your motor mounts checked in case one is broken as that can cause it as well. Also have your axle shafts checked, look for the boots to be cracked or torn as they coul d be going bad as well.
