Dear Expert(s):

My 1993 Buick Century hesitates when I accelerrate from a stopped position, say at a green light or when I first turn the car on and also, it seems slightly sluggish on the highway after I attain 45 mph. Can you suggest
what I can do myself. Please do not suggest that I bring to my mechanic. He has all my money right.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Walter B

Please do not suggest that I bring to my mechanic. He has all my money right. Lol -its cheaper in here all you have to do is pay close attention-

Do you have a check engine light or has come on and then disappeared, when was the last tune-up?

Try below and see what happens

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires
