The car stalls out after it runs awhile(about 12 miles). It will start up in park or neutral, but it will stall again as soon as you put it in gear. It does this about 5 or 6 times then it will run okay for a little while and then do it all over again. Also, sometimes after it starts running again, pressing the gas pedal causes a grinding sound. We checked the fuel pump and its putting out proper pressure and no codes will come up when you check the codes. We also replaced the cadillac converter.

When you put it in gear does it stall rather violently or does it just stall like you turned off the key?

Open the hood and look down at the transmission and you will see a square white electrical plug going into transmission. Unplug it. Your problem is fixed. What is happening is the transmission torque converter clutch solenoid is stuck causing your transmission to lock up stalling your motor. Once you unplug it you will have to start it and put it in gear until it doesnt stall anymore like you have been but it wont do it anymore once it frees up one time. Leave it unplugged, you dont need it. Ive done this a hundred times. Happy motoring.
