Hi,
That is interesting. Do me a favor. Try this and let me know what you find.
First, fully set the parking brake, place the vehicle in park, and open the hood.
Have a helper in the vehicle start the engine and securely press the brakes. Place yourself to the side of the vehicle for safety and have the helper place the vehicle in drive. While you watch the engine, have them gently press the throttle. Do the same in reverse.
I suspect you have a broken motor mount or trans mount. If I am correct, you will see the engine move excessively. If it is lifting (one side or the other which changes side based on gear selection) more than a couple of inches, we either have a broken mount or an excessively worn mount. Note: In drive, one side of the engine will lift. In reverse, the opposite will lift. Try both.
Try this and let me know what you find.
Take care,
Joe
