I has a service performed on my car at the dealership including a brake service. When I got the car back there was a rubbing squeak noise and some resistance to moving backwards and forwards. The symptoms went away after driving the vehicle a short ways. I called the dealership to report this and they said it could be the anti skid they put on, it gets hard in the cold weather. They said to drive it for a couple more weeks and if the noise didn't go away to bring it in. Shortly after that my boyfriend noticed when I was backing up in snow the right rear tire didn't move. Again this went away shortly after I drove the vehicle. All symptoms went away. Then when it got really cold out this past week the noise came back also with the hesitance in going forward and backward and the tire dragging on the snow again. Once I hit the pavement I couldn't back up but could go forward and again the symptoms went away shortly after driving the vehicle except an occasional rubbing squeaking noise. I thought it was the anti skid again but made an appointment at the dealership. They said the parking brake seized and the rear brakes were blue and I needed to replace the rear brakes. My question is, could this have been related to a dealership mistake during the brake service after which I first noticed the symptoms? They said since the symptoms went away it was not related to that and the issue had occurred much more recently. The symptoms seemed to happen when it was colder out. I'm in Michigan.i wondered if the symptoms went away for a period because it got warmer out the returned when it got colder.

I would take this back and ask them to adjust the brakes. I assume you have rear drum brakes but even if you have disc brakes in the rear, it appears they are not adjusted properly. This is most likely causing all your issues.

Again it is hard to know for sure what they actually did but driving a few more weeks will not make it better. I am disappointed they told you that because it is not good advice. I suspect they over adjusted the rear shoes or the parking brake and they are dragging now.
