Brake line flush

Brought my car to jiffy lube & they said my car was missing the brake fluid cap & a rag was stuffed there instead. If this happened it happened before a drive from NY to FL with no stops. Do you think it's possible for the car to make this trip without a light or something going on? Something doesn't seem right with Jiffy's story. Of course they want to flush the brake fluid on top of the oil change.

A missing brake fluid cap would not show anything. You can be driving without the cap for months and not feel anything.

Don't you think the fluid would be absorbed into the rag & cause the light to come one?

The rag would only be able to absord a certain amount of fluid and since it is inside the reservoir, it most probably would not affect the level indicator switch.
