Bonnet release catch defective

how to open bonnet as release mechanism wont work. Do I access the catches through the grill? If so how do I get grill off? Or is there another way to get at the catches. The wire from the lever inside the car seems to be alright.

if the wire seems to pull ok then have an assistant pull the handle to open HOOD the smack HOOD with palm of hand it may pop up like that first then make sure to lube hoodlatch assy. if not then you will probably have to goin from bottom and may have to pull some panels off to reach it.
