I have a 1998 BMW Z3 with 125000 miles and 4cyl engine. I take immaculate care of it. Over the past couple days I have noticed it hesitates ...yesterday in 2nd gear - today in 4th then 3rd then 4th again. Its almost like its running out of gas but then it recovers. Today's 4th gear stumble was accompanied by an unholy loud backfire. Yesterday it had been driven awhile before it stuttered, today it was when I first started out. Any ideas? MAF sensor? fuel pump?
thanks!
