My dads BMW X5 was left running when my father went to the bank and left my mom in the car. Then my mom heard a big pop and then I came by to diagnose the problem. I noticed the radiator resevoir cracked under pressure. So I went to BMW and bought a new one and BMW"S coolant and I replaced the resevoir and mixed 1 gal of coolant and 1 gal of water and added it to the radiator. Now the car overheats after a while of running. What should I do to get it to stop overheating.

You may have air trapped in the cooling system. The bleeder screw is on top of the expansion tank. Start with a cold motor, open the screw and add coolant until it runs out, then tighten the screw(careful it is plastic) and the pressure cap, then run at an idle with the heater on full until it is warmed up. Let cool and top off the cooling system.
