I got some codes from my code reader. Idle speed control, vehicle speed, map controlled thermostat circuit control, secondary air systems cyl. 1-4 and 5-8. Where do I begin. 1999 BMW 740il.

This could easily be an overwhelming task for a layperson, do you have the tools, the shop and the skills to do automotive repairs? If not you might need to seek out a BMW pro. The secondary air fault might require cylinder head removal, so it is a possibly extensive repair.
