The check engine light is on for some reason related to the powertrain/engine emissions. The brake lining warning is due to the warning sensor in either the left front or right rear brake pad being in contact with the rotor. It basically is telling you to have the brakes inspected. A scan of the car through the OBDII connector (next to the front cupholder) will determine the need for repairs and to turn off the check engine light.
