I have BMW 528I with 109000(1998).
I'd like to check out the aux fan since it's obviously not working. When I turn on a/c it not funcioning at all and my car starts to overheat when idling. As soon as I start driving temperature goes back to normal and I found quite a few people with same problem and they say it was fan. I found a connector on the right side (not mine but of the car where coolant reservoir is), and I think it is for fan. The one coming from fan is male connector and has 4 pins. The other connector is female and also has four wires(one brown (big), one black, and two like mixture of brown and some other color and much smaller diameter. If this is the right connector for the fan, how do I test the fan with power source (I read somewhere it has to be 12v dc). If the resistors are bad, can they be replaced or the whole fan needs to be replaced, and where are they(somewhere near fan or some other more accessible place (engine etc.))? How much do they cost and is it the big job? I also can't find fuse #75 for fan.
