I have a rattling sound when the air conditioner goes on. The A/C works fine. I'm yold it is a slipping clutch on the A/C. A friend told me that you can sand the clutch with emory paper, sometimes you also need to shim it, and it will be fine.
If you walk into BMW, you might as well bend over and take it up the a__ !
How can I find out how to do this myself?

To save time, I recommend an air conditioning shop be considered. The clutch tools and your(possible, I do not know) lack of mechanical ability might conspire to cause untold mischief, as you are dealing with an unknown. BMW air conditioning compressors are not special, they are the same ones other German car makers use and the puller required to remove the clutch is available from a specialty supplier such as Snap-on or Mac tools or J.C. It may also be a possible bearing noise and you could save some dough replacing the clutch as a unit.
