the boot of my touring is locked shut and I cannot open it as some part of the lock has broken! I heard a noise whilst driving (sounded like a small metal part dropping to the bottom of the inside of the tailgate). I can get access to the inside of the car through the back seats and have tried to remove the plastic covers that would give me access to the lock and locking mechanism but unfortunately, they will not budge unless the tailgate is open.
I called BMW in Romford who told me that they were not aware of any method of getting the car open. BMW Park Lane told me that there are two plastic plugs right where the tailgate locking mechanism meets the car, the plugs need removing although he wasn't quite sure of what to do next! I removed the plugs but was unsuccessful in opening the boot.
I then called BMW Holland Park and their head mechanic told me I needed to loosen the panel on the tailgate as much as possible then try to kick it, which I definately do not want to do!
I realise that the car is a little rare, however there must be a way of getting into the boot without causing too much damage!
Any help would be appreciated![/B]
