2000 BMW 323 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

Thanks for your time guys. My fiance's clutch on her BMW has gone rouge. The car will crank with the clutch depress, but will not shift into gear. She told me that before we met, she had her clutch replaced and the cost was almost $3,000. I'm upset because this seems to be way over priced. It's almost as if they had to ship the car to Germany to get it fix. Can you provide me any information regarding the estimates that I should expect to get. Thanks again for your time.

Also, this happened in Columbia SC.

I have no doubt it cost that much if BMW did it.

You can shop around different local garages, look for one that specializes in BMW, Mercedes etc.
You should be able to save at least $1,000 or more from the $3,000.

I would also check the clutch system out, bleed the system or adjust the cable.

A properly installed clutch will last a long time, if taken care of.

Do not hold the car on a hill with the clutch.
Do not start from a stop in a higher gear (2nd for example).
Do not rev the engine and dump the clutch.

The general idea is not to overheat the clutch, which can damage the clutch quicker that anything.
