Hi, on my dashboard the fault lights are continually up indicating that both my rear lights are faulty. however i have checked my brake, indicators, reverse and fog lights for the rear of my car and all are working fine. What could the problem be?

many thanks

There may be a problem with the bulbs themselves or with the wiring connectors. Remove the rear lamp assemblies and inspect the connections, especially the ground wire (the brown wire is the ground) Be sure to inspect all the connections. If you see any corrosion or if the plastic connector is somehow damaged from the heat generated from the poor connection, replace the damaged parts. Also, only use the silver base bulbs from BMW, using brass base bulbs will set a fault. Dielectric grease is not called for but probably wont hurt anything.
