My check engine light blinks when I'm accelerating at high rpm's and also misfires while accelerating at high rpm's. That's the only time the check engine light comes on. When I go to start it it runs really rough for about ten to fifteen seconds then clears out and runs fine. During that rough start there's no check engine light on. I did have a EVAP code come on awhile ago so I cleared the code and light never came back on. That happened before I started having these problems so I figured it was a loose gas cap.

The glaring symptom here is the misfires. Too much unburned fuel is going into the exhaust system where it will be burned in the catalytic converter. That will overheat the converter and damage it. Even if you couldn't feel the misfires, that is what the flashing Check Engine light means. Most commonly this is caused by a spark-related problem. The place to start is by having the diagnostic fault codes read again. You can go here:

to see the definitions, or I can interpret them for you. That will give us a place to start.
