Hi,

Customer brought this vehicle in with a no heat issue. Customer already did the pita job of replacing the heater core but changed nothing. I notice that the air blows only out of defrost and gets lukewarm. So, I suspect a blend door issue. The actuators on the top and side of the HVAC assembly do nothing, no spinning or clicking. The only thing that works is the fan speed on the control unit. Fuses #25 and #29 are good.

Hi,

Since they had the dash apart, there is a chance the ground for the circuit is bad. Have you checked that? The ground wire is black with a tan tracer at the left kick panel. It provides the ground for the blend actuator and the control module.

Also, when you checked fuse 25, did you confirm power to and from it?

I attached the wiring schematics below for the circuit. Take a look through and see if it helps. Also, confirm a good ground, and check for power to the actuator via the brown wire with a pink tracer.

As far as the airflow direction, that is controlled by engine vacuum. Again, if the system was out, confirm the vacuum hoses are connected, not damaged, and are receiving a vacuum supply. See pic 3

Let me know what you find.

Joe

Well, fixed that. They didn't even plug the actuator back in. So, temperature control works now. There was a vacuum leak at the firewall, so I fixed that too, now I have vacuum through the check valve behind the glovebox. However, when I remove the green vacuum line from the vacuum actuator, I get no suction. The diagram you provided shows the vacuum actuator on the driver side, red/blue/yellow connections. Those have no vacuum but I'm looking at finding out why the green side has none since this is where the vacuum starts.

Hi,

If you can access it without removal, great. If not, then remove the heater control assembly. On the rear of it is where the vacuum hoses all attach to the switch. Confirm you have a vacuum from the engine first.

If you remove the vacuum harness from the controller, be careful with it. They become very brittle.

See pics below.

Sorry. Forgot to come back here. I attached a lose hose at the firewall from the engine and got vacuum inside. All connections were good, and I see that whoever removed radio and temperature control unit broke a small plastic nipple on the back of the mode selector. Which is your second image highlighted. I went to the junkyard and got a new temperature control unit and now it blows wherever I select.

Hi,

I'm glad to hear you got it fixed. I know the connectors get brittle from time and heat, so it isn't unusual for one to break.

Regardless, I'm glad it works properly. Please feel free to come back anytime in the future. You are always welcome here.

Take good care of yourself.

Joe
