Hi, I needed to replace my EGR valve. I had trouble getting it off and when I finally got it off I realized the first to threads of the nut got flattened. That has made it extremely difficult to put the new one back on the tube. I believe I must take the tube off now with Hope's that AutoZone will replace my EGR valve and put it all back on.

Hi CThigpen,

If the threads are flattened then yes replace may be needed. However, if you can find a tap/thread repair kit this can straighten your threads. This will only work if it is just the threads that are the issue. If the tube itself is flattened then it will not work. The other issue that you are going to have is finding one that is large enough to fit but if you can, then you can repair it.

The last thing is, you will need to price the tool vs replacing the part, because I have a feeling they will not be much different.

Let me know if I can assist further. Thanks
