I have a mazda protege with the F4EAT transmission and I just did a drain and refill. Afterwards, I have o/d flashing at startup and delayed engagement shifting into Drive. Have to wait a couple of minutes. It feels better after I apply throttle and the o/d flashing goes away after I apply throttle. It seems to do the o/d flashing and weak transmission drive response on cold starts and seem to all go away when I wait few mintues and apply throttle. Drives better afterwards. I may have seem to put in the world standard fluid when it recommended dexron III, could that be why? Or could it be the new fluid detergency is too strong and cleaned out too much gunk?

Hello,

Yes the fluid can cause the problem you must use what the book calls for or it wont work right. Also you may have a shaft speed sensor that is going out. Lets scan for codes to confirm so we can get it fixed.

and this will give you an idea on what you are in for when doing the repair.

Please run this test and get back to us we are interested to see what it is.
