I installed a fuel gauge not using the fuel gauge on the original factory cluster. I installed the fuel gauge to the same wire from the cluster to the auto meter gauge I’m not working. somebody told me to do it this way. what would be the best way to get that to work? it’s an electric gauge.

You will need to wiring the gauge to the sender not the wire going to the cluster. At the tank it will be a dark blue and white or purple and white wire. Check out the wiring diagram how so you can see how the system is wired. Let me know how it goes. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

I also have the Speedway motors module to connect auto meter fuel gauge. so now you’re saying to take the wire I got hooked up coming from the fuel wire behind the cluster and run that wire to fuel tank and my right? I also have a speedometer that Hass to be hooked up to. do the factory gauges still work when you use these auto meter gauges? I built a custom dashboard and hit the factory gauge cluster that is why I am hooking up these auto meter gauges.

Those can be different you will need to contact Autometerer to see what gauges and adapters you will need. I know you will need to contact directly to the sensor source and not go through any modules or controllers.
