1999 Audi A4 125,000 miles. Last summer, the compressor froze on the car, and I declined fixing it at the time because the car was going to be in storage for several months. The first time driving the car after taking it out of storage recently, I noticed that no air was passing through the vents -- not even hot air. This had not been a problem last summer, as far as I could tell, since air was still entering the cabin. A friend told me the new problem was fuse related, so I replaced the fuse for the fan blower. The blower then worked for about 30 minutes and failed again, leading me to believe there is a short in the system. Do you know if the compressor and blower problems are related? I know that in an Audi, conditioned and normal air are mixed to achieve the desired temperature, so that the compressor may be activated even when it is very cold. I thought I'd be able to replace the compressor myself, but if my car is blowing fuses because of the compressor problem, this may not be a task for anyone other than a mechanic.

More likely th eblower motor resistor or the motor its self is drawing too much amperage

Changing the compressor, if you find that you need it, is a specialized trade for a reason. Working with refrigerants can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing and there is specialized equipment that is needed to restore the system to operating conditions. If it is needed, find a A/C mechanic.

The compressor and the blower are not related electically in the manner that you suggest. It looks like you have 2 problems. Is the blower making any unusual noises?
