Check engine light

Disconnecting the battery will extingush the check engine light however the cars computer will have to re-learn it's operating parameters. Driveability may be effected untill the car re-learns it's operating parameters. Another draw back is if the condition that caused the light to come in the first time still exists, the light will only come on again.
